More Love Than Myth (Tell the Children)

Will Dailey

Maybe we should tell the children
Santa is make believe
and it's always been you and me
it's always been you and me
explain that we would never let
a stranger of the night break in
to leave us things while we dream
it's always you and me

Teach them to believe in magic times
Not to wait for magic to arrive

No one's out there keeps tabs
on if their good or bad
you're a child and you are free
So there's really no such thing
show them we should measure love
we give not the things we get
that's all just future trash
We want but never need
That we'll all
Soon forget
& pile on
Tomorrow's mess
What a mess. What a mess

the truth has more love
more love than myth
teach them to believe in magic times
not to wait for magic to arrive

Years from now when we're sitting
Here with an empty xmas tree
And time played its dirty tricks
And it's only you and me

We'll crave this mess, this stressful test
for that magic in their eyes
Well, maybe one more year
Wouldn't hurt a thing
Hmmmm hmmmmm
Just for you and me
