The Wheel of the Water
One day, a little girl and her grandfather
Walked down to the village springs to get some water
"Grandfather," she asked. "Where does the water start?"
"Well child" said the old man. "To find out where the water starts
You must first ask, 'where does the water go?'"
"Okay." said the little girl. "Where does the water go?"
The wheel of the water goes round and round
And the wheel of the watеr goes round
And the wheel of the watеr goes round and round
And the wheel of the water goes round
He led her to a place where it trickled from the village springs
Flowing to a brook
And they called the Great Speckled Fish
"Fish, fish! This child wants to know where the water goes."
The fish said, "Climb on my back, I'll show you."
She climbed on his back as he carried her from the brook and down the stream
And down the stream into a river
And as he swam, he sang:
Water flow down down, trickle trickle down
Down to the ocean, trickle trickle down
Water flow down down, trickle trickle down
Down to the ocean, trickle trickle down
The river grew big and wide until it finally spilled into a mighty deep ocean!
The fish said, "This is it. This is where the water goes."
"No! No! No! It's not!"
A great big seagull swooped down
"I don't know where the water goes! Come on!"
The girl jumped on his back as they rose up to the spindling
Up through the fall
The seagull was singing:
See the vapors rise
See them cloud the skies
See the vapors rise
See them cloud the skies
Up, up, up they flew into a mighty dark cloudy bank!
"This is it! This is where the water goes!"
Thunder crashed and lightning flashed when the girl herself falling and falling!
And tumbling right towards the rain!
And all around through the storm, she was singing:
Clouds rain down
Thunder and lightning sound
Clouds rain down
Thunder and lightning sound
The girl landed with a bump on the soggy moss
"I know where the water goes." a voice said
It was a big brown bear
"Follow me," he said
And when it got deeper and deeper
It got deeper enough until they went into the darkness
Have the girl thought she heard?
Yes, you know the burble of underground springs
Springs bubble bubble up
Springs bubble bubble up
Springs bubble bubble up
Springs bubble bubble up
"Jump in." the bear said, "And see where it goes."
The girl took a deep breath
As she dove into the water swimming like a fish
Going up, up, up
And finally she could hold her breath
Do you know what she saw?
It was a shaft of light!
And she burst through the surface when...
It could be no one anywhere
Our grandfather was ahead
Pulled her out of the water
She was back in the village springs where she had started!
"Grandfather!" she said. "I see!
Water doesn't start anywhere
It's...it's like a wheel! And..."
The wheel of the water goes round and round
And the wheel of the water goes round
And the wheel of the water goes round and round
And the wheel of the water goes round
Water flow down down, trickle trickle down
Down to the ocean, trickle trickle down
See the vapors rise
See them cloud the skies
Clouds rain down
Thunder and lightning sound
Clouds rain down
Thunder and lightning sound
Clouds rain down
Thunder and lightning sound
Clouds rain down
Thunder and lightning sound
See the vapors rise
See them cloud the skies
Water flow down down, trickle trickle down
Down to the ocean, trickle trickle down
The wheel of the water goes round and round
And the wheel of the water goes round
And the wheel of the water goes round and round
And the wheel of the water goes round
