I Will Care for You
Nate Kern
We age
We grow old
Making choices, walking this road
Winding our way until our blood turns cold
Did we say what we should?
Did we do what we could?
I'm afraid I don't know
Watching our young
Raising them up
Can we live with the fact they drink from our cup?
How do we prune the seeds we've sown?
We pray for grace and mercy to be shown
My black heart can't beat on its own
I will care for you
I just pray mine will care for me
I'm not the man that I should be
Are we ever truthfully?
No time, it don't stop
The clock sings its tick and its tock
Until we breathe our last
I will care for you
Just pray mine will care for me
Not the man that I should be
Are we ever truthfully?
Are we ever truthfully?
Grace and mercy indeed
