Mercury Rising

It was dark and it wasn't just the nighttime
The crowd was silent but their eyes were on dead time
The air was laden down with malice and silence
A recipe with just a sprinkle of violence

And then the atmosphere began to crackle and fizz

Black clouds, low pressure in my head
But I ignored what my barometer and heart said
