Legend of the Piper

On the south side of the bank of Loch Lomond
That's where it's said the piper walks at night
I've heard it said he was a man of evil
A man who didn't know his wrong from right

And a man from the town of Loch Lomond
Had heard that the piper killed his wife
So he gathered up the clans from the Highlands
And threw in the lot to take his life

With his dying breath, the piper gave a warning
A curse on any man who walks at night
So stay away from the banks of Loch Lomond
And live to see the early morning light

Through the dead of night, you hear the piper playing
The nearest sound of death chills the air
When the creeping mist of hell is all around you
You can feel the lonely piper everywhere

The wind in the trees starts a-blowing
As the piper's spirit travels through the glen
So don't go to the banks of Loch Lomond
And spare yourself the fate of other men

So when you're standing on the banks of Loch Lomond
And you hear his ghostly pipe begin to play
Just fall down on your knees and start a-praying
'Cause the piper has decided you will stay
