Going Home Forever

J. Michael Wilson

I've walked the dusty roads of life
With heavy heart and tear-filled eyes
Not knowing anyone
Who seemed to care
At times I'd stumble, slip and fall
And wonder, "What's the use at all"
But then I'd hear a Voice that said
"Don't stop, you're almost there"

It seems that I've been going home forever
Through miles of smiles and pain
And stormy weather
But it won't be long until I hear the Master
Call my name and say
"It's time for you to leave
And come on home, forеver"

Soon, I'll hear the trumpеt sound
I'll pick up my robe and crown
And leave behind the sorrows
That we've shared
I'll hear the Savior say, "Well done
You've fought the fight, your race is run
Come on in and rest a while
You're at home, forever"

It seems that I've been going home forever
Through miles of smiles and pain
And stormy weather
But it won't be long until I hear the Master
Call my name and say
"It's time for you to leave
And come on home, forever"

They tell me that forever
Is a long, long time
But as long as I'm at home
That will be just fine
In the presence of the King of Kings
While listening to angels sing
I'll be glad I finally made it home
Oh, I'll be glad I finally made it home
Oh, I'll be glad I finally made it home forever
