The Astronaut
The Astronaut
I knew a girl who dreamed
shed touch the sky,
she gazed at it every night,
picking out her stars.
Someday I think Ill
leave this world she says,
thinking inside her head
that it cant really be that far.
For every I love you that he never meant,
a kiss on someone elses lips.
The chain remains.
A hundred candles forgive his sins.
Two floors down a girl gives in.
The chain remains.
As time went by the girl got older.
Her attempts to fly got bolder,
but still,
something held her down.
It was the ball and chain she wore for luck.
It was her love for it that kept her stuck.
It had promised her so much.
For every I love you that he never meant,
a kiss on someone elses lips.
The chain remains.
A hundred candles forgive his sins.
Two floors down a girl gives in.
The chain remains.
The ball and chain was all he left.
It screams out broken promises.
Its just an empty shell,
his heart was somewhere else.
Is it sinking in?
Are you catching on?
Is it getting through?
