I burned all those pictures at least ten years ago
That one of you beside the car was hardest to let go
That shoe box full of memories promises and lies
The smoke from those old letters still gets in my eyes
Just a few old memories of how it used to be
Old songs and old friend remind me constantly
To think how close I was to you still gets close to me
But all that’s left for me to love are a few old memories
There’s still a silver bracelet around the house somewhere
It’s probably in that old trunk we keep beneath the stairs
The words you had put on it have tarnished and turned
It and a few old memories are all that wouldn’t burn
