Dick Johnson
Ending can be a blast
Our king of the universe won’t last
We go beyond the big I
And give up being a star in the sky
By relating better to each other
We more likely can find our druthers
With hostile envy changing to healthy
Chances are we’ll be happy and wealthy
Even though we must part from friends
Our lives can turn to broader ends
The imprint of our successful relationships
Will be reflected on others and their trips
As we have grown toward maturity
Defenses are changed to personal security
So let’s celebrate this happy day
And move ahead in every way
And it could be a blast
We get self-esteem from working and growing
Not from praise and constant crowing
Pass on to others what we can learn
Without bragging to make others burn
We’ll be good enough if we try
Without a Nobel prize before we die
We go beyond the big I
And give up being a star in the sky
Even though we must part from friends
Our lives can turn to broader ends
The imprint of our successful relationships
Will be reflected on others and their trips
As we have grown toward maturity
Defenses are changed to personal security
Let’s celebrate this happy day
And move ahead in every way
By relating better to each other
We more likely can find our druthers
Ending can be a blast
Our king of the universe won’t last
With hostile envy changing to healthy
Chances are we’ll be happy and wealthy
