Lonesome on My Own
I hate to say it but she looks happier now in her posts and her photographs
Maybe she's better without hangin' from my love like a
marionette
Even when I was alone to know she was out there it kept me warm
Now that the suns going down I shiver and shake till
tomorrow morning
Cause' I'm still out here alone
With my thumb out on the side of the road
I see you dancing in my head
Every time someone turns on the rolling stones
Maybe its better you're gone
Now I can be lonesome on my own
I'm like a dog on the loose every drink filters through my past
& I would forget about you sometimes I like to pretend I can
It's like that merry-go-round where we used to meet on the edge of town
You'd tell you about your big plans between drags of your smoke
as I'd spin you around and around
You'd say someday I'm gonna go
Stick out my thumb on the side of the road
Make my way to the city where nobody knows me
And live like a rolling stone
Somewhere far from home
Where I can be lonesome on my own
You were always living in the moment
I was always clinging to the past
haunted by things left unspoken
There was only so much sand in the hourglass
Some things I'll never know
Are you happy did you finally find your own road
Someone or someplace you could call home
You were always a rolling stone
Maybe it's better you're gone
Now I can be lonesome on my own
