Charles at the Flywheel

NARRATOR:
As the sun goes down
On Township Number Nine
Sitting outside the east flywheel
Charles is watching
He sees Herschel’s ship at anchor
In the church a candle burns
He grimly smiles, it’s been a while
They’ll shake hands when he returns

WORKER:
Charles, they’re looking for you in town

CHARLES:
Herschel’s kept us waiting in this godforsaken
Jungle for years. He can wait a few more hours

WORKER:
Sir, his arrival changes things. They’ve sent word
That work on the satellite is to resume first thing
In thе morning

CHARLES:
(sighs) Were you able to gеt the shipment from
Upriver?

WORKER:
Yes, I’ve already brought the lime to the
Brick mill

CHARLES:
Good, then our goal remains the same
Township Number Nine
Where civilization and wilderness intertwine
Ever since I was placed here
I’ve been going to waste here
But soon enough this land will all be mine
