Isolation

Philip O'Donnell

These eerie empty streets
So many distant memories
Are piling up, silently
On my own, losing track
And this fear has got me trapped
Dimming the brightness inside of me
And the weight drags me down
It's like I'm underwater, about to run out of air
I've been reaching out, feels like there's nobody there
I can scream, but what if no-one can hear
As these lonely tears keep falling
Now the city's closing in
And I can't help listening
As my dark thoughts surround me
And they whisper in my sleep
While my mistakes play on repeat
As I spiral, endlessly
And it breaks me down
It's like I'm underwater, about to run out of air
I've been reaching out, feels like there's nobody there
I can scream, but what if no-one can hear
As these lonely tears keep falling
As the days stretch out ahead
And the nights they never end
I can't find the strength I need
Getting closer to the edge
Looking down into the depths
And a voice begins to speak
So don't hold back
You've got to fight or you'll fall through the cracks
Don't pull back
It won't be long 'til this moment is passed
Don't turn back
Behind and beside you, together we stand
So take my hand
The steady beat of time
When all these lonely tears have dried
We're still waiting for a sign
