The Jester’s Daily Bread
And hired by king
A jester down below
And all around
A people full of woe
The jester comes
And all those woes have fled
As a reward
He gets his daily bread
His former name
Has long escaped their minds
His former ways
[?] ever finds
And that's why he wears
A bell around his neck
They laugh at him
And get their spirits back
Great is the king
His people though are weak
Only the fool
Can act as he does speak
Still he takes care
To always do his best
So few are kings
But many are those who jest
So [?] high
And flowers down below
Then high the king is
Then so the fool is low
As time goes by
The statue wears away
But new flowers
Many are grown every day
