Dear Minister of Health, cc Minister of Education
I feel forced to write regarding menstruation
I've read about teenagers having to stay
At home, because they can't afford to pay
For sanitary products that should be free
At least for those stuck in poverty
But for all of us, really every woman that bleeds
'Cause sanitary products are a basic need

Sex is a choice, for most anyway
Yet condoms are free, and you're happy to pay
Out of the coffers for STD prevention
But not for the cost of menstruation
Even Viagra is free to many
Functional safe sex won't cost you a penny

But to naturally bleed every three or four weeks
We have to budget for? It so clearly speaks
Deafening volumes on how we're still stuck
In a patriarchal swamp, where you can fuck
For free without increasing the gene pool
But kids can't even go to school
'Cause the price of menzies is way too high
So don't you think that it's time to apply
New laws regarding our monthly bleed
At the very least, for those in need

It's not okay that every time a young woman blooms
She gets a tax bill planted straight on her womb
For the best part of 40 years
Right up until her menopause appears
And they shouldn't just be free, we should get to choose
Which of the options we're happy to use
I'd gladly go back to the days of the red tent
But no doubt you'll just tax us by charging us rent
