So Cold It’s Hard to Think
It’s way too cold to think
I haven’t slept a wink
The open windows were no help
The heater’s on the blink
You think I’m lazy
You say I’m slow
But there’s something
I want you to know
The more I get the less I feel
The more I see the less is real
You’ll never know how it goes
The world is like a spinning wheel
With us too far afield
And no one’s in control
I know what I must do
I need to copy you
And find the version of myself
That lets me follow through
You’ll think I’m crazy
You’ll say I’m soft
But you’re not the one who’s lost
The more I get the less I feel
The more I see the less is real
You’ll never know how it goes
The world is like a spinning wheel
And you still have a goal;
To save your precious soul
The sacred blood of your saviour
Won’t be on my hands
The absolution that you need now
You alone understand
It’s much too late to run
We’ll blame the winter sun
Let’s stay indoors until such time
As summer has begun
They’ll think we’re stupid
They’ll say we’re dumb
But we’ll be the clever ones
The more we get the less we feel
The more we see the less is real
They’ll never know how it goes
So close the shutters, turn the blinds
And help me soothe these tired eyes
Just let me stay at home
