BLOOM

A flower reaching stems out for the water
After months on end, without a drop of rain
Faired the harshest wind that nature's ever thought of
But all the flower needed was a hurricane

To take her away, and bring her to life
Show her the world in a different light
Teach her to fly, and carry her home
Replant a root somewhere you'll never roam

Sometimes the only thing that you can do
Is say goodbye, sever ties, and let her bloom

You tried to watch her flourish from a distance
And you rooted for her while she found her way
But you blinked and she was gone within an instant
And you realized that you weren't the one to ever make her stay

Or take her away, and bring her to life
Show her the world in a different light

Maybe she's just shitty
Maybe her self-pity
Is fueling her addiction
To chasing someone different
But she called you the monster
The self-absorbed imposter
So hold your tongue, don't bother
Cause you could never stop her

So you blew away, got out of her sight
And she cursed your name, but to you it felt right
So don't call her up, just leave her alone
And steady the heart that she used to call home

And there's fear in learning how to start anew
When a curtain's called, and darkness falls on you
But we say goodnight, kill the lights
And learn to bloom
