Shipwreckers

James Yorkston

Quiet was house that greets us tonight
The breach of the logs, the peat catches light
The storm hardly a curse for it get us back inside
Before midnight turned morning, and we realised
We needed alone, there are moments in each life
And this was just one how many will you have

Well carried the wind that jumped in the stove
That harried the fire that warmed through our clothes
As we watch through the glass, with towels on our backs
The mischief in our minds, whispered in our ears
Warming the body, soaked to the bone
Garteful for the rain for driving us back home

The shipwreckers' lights wild in the sea
We neither say a word, they're providing all we need
The Shipwreckers tails running through my mind
I offer a quick prayer for those caught out tonight
Your head against my arm, wet hair against my face
And you're the girl I want, and this is the place
