Sun Down Shores

I ran the fields and searched out secret ways
And found a joy that deepened day by day
Yet springtime turned to summer, then to fall
And I never saw the writing on the wall
What am I gonna do?
She never looks me in the eye
But if she did I'd surely cry
Now I'm down and I'm wondering why
I can't find my way back home

We walked the green-gloom dusk
Beneath the trees
We strolled the wind-swept shores of many seas
Then like a flood, the years go rushing past
Time hunts you down and catches you at last
What am I gonna do?

She can't look me in the eye
But if she did I'd surely die
And now I'm down and I'm wondering why
I can't find my way back home

I can't help this life
I've got nothing much to show for it
But beyond the wreck and ruin of it all
