North Wind
Oh bitter breath you set a chill in me
Howling this, I am undone
There is winter in the words you sing
I search for warmth yet there is none
I must recall the summer sun
I see you chasing the birds about the sky
I see you shaping the angry clouds on high
Yet ever you hide
I've known the different things you did
But always you, yourself, were hidden
There’s no escape from all you've done
"A memory shall swallow thee fair sir,"
The wind did stir
"I will bring thee a sweeter dream if coldеr
Visions you would spurn"
I felt it sweep over me and I fеared I was dying
Though dreaming, I felt the cold subside
Warmth washing over me, life returns
I woke to find myself in garden green no eye had seen
And its splendour was such that I was moved to sing
I felt it sweep over me and I feared I was dying
Though dreaming, I felt the cold subside
Warmth washing over me, and my life returning
To satisfy long years of learning
Oh bitter breath return
Your cold might bring a mercy
And close these eyes at last forever
Oh bitter wind please set my spirit free
To roam at will throughout that pleasant land
And there I banish you forever
For you have been no friend to me
You only tempt with these visions
I found that place where the angry clouds won't go
I saw that space where the bitter wind can’t blow
Now I would know why the wind would bear the scent of this place
It curled me round within its icy embrace
I've heard the rumours of Heaven each time it whispers or howls
Oh set my spirit free to find the source of longing
There to banish you once and for all
Now the cold is seeping into me
The winter wind brings only suffering
What would I not give to rid myself of this mocking
For it showed me a dream and then took it away
I will wait, one day summer will return
Until then, until then...
