The Lapdog
The way the wanderer entered my life
Hat in his hand and taking a chance
On a grin and a silvery tongue
Oh what it is to be young
I had a faith and I had a dream
But I let the chance slip through my hands
And he's no exception to the rule
But given the breaks, he's got what it takes
And there's no telling what he can do
Sometimes I wonder what they teach them in school
Letting 'em out with their head in the clouds
And everything pinned on a dream, oh it don't seem right
Oh what it is to be young
