Equality

Turning 22 really has me feeling some typa way
Seeing things around the world and what is happening to us these days
Peaceful protesters getting battered by their own PDs
Claiming body cams were never on hopin we cant see these

Times like these I’ve been thinking of my nan
Raised in war times eating from a can
Understands importance of community and unity
Christmas time she gives to those in need a sense of family

Whole world crying out in horror as George said “I cant breathe”
Nothings changed in a hundred years, no wonder their blood seethes
This time last year, flooded street were yelling “lets go raptors”
Fast forward this year, crowds still here they yelling “black lives matter”

Humans of quality don’t fear equality
If that sentence bothers you rudeboi I guess you bother me
You’ll die of old age while they’ll die in a cage
Bad people kill black when they didn’t even engage

When i was younger, did not know a thing
To the people in power imposing this pain on the bipoc, you should be ashamed
Holding them down with your ball and your chain
Land of the free? Home of brave?
Land of the racists and home to the slaves
Nixon was no help, Reagan was no help
Clinton just funded the shit that wreaks all hell
Serve and protect, still you attack
Simply for the fact the man’s skin is black?
Your statements are whack
Looting to shoting uprooting your looney ass
Out of the office and into the goonielags

If one of my children went out for some skittle, and didn’t return
Or played in the park, and didn’t return
Or went for a jog, and didn’t return
Or reach for his license, and didn’t return
And with his last breath he cried out for his mother
Of course id go out there and burn down a city in anger with all of my sisters and brothers
