Like a Cannonball

Will I wonder? Will I know?
Or will I keep on digging up the bones?
Coming through the darkness late at night

It was like a cannonball
That had flown into the walls
Everything exploding all around us every day

When the weight has lifted from your heart
And all bad things have slowly pulled apart
Then I will have finally come to see

We were just inventors of
Fear of what was still to come
Standing on the edges while the world is burned away

I watched it slowly moving backwards in my mind
Every little movement took it further from my eyes

And thеn as I made my way across
To look for all the things that I have lost
Thеre is no-one waiting for me now

Everyone had gone away
There were no more words to say
There was nothing else to lead me off another way

I told you of the cannonball
