Not the Hero
David Hughes, Stephen McRae
I'm not the hero of the story
Tall tales with lightning sails
Depict another glory
It's not how I imagined it
Closed eyes with dreams inside
Left prayers that never fit
I manifest my narrative
I give my reasons my disease gets to exist
And if my ship begins to list
Cold water rises
And excises paralysis
So now you see
Where has the darkness been
Been waiting patiently
This is where we sleep
So now you see
Where has the darkness been
Been waiting patiently
This is where we sleep
I have resided in discomfort
I have presided over periods of disjuncture
So now you see
Where has the darkness been
Been waiting patiently
I don't decide the end
