Shirly cleans up after her nightshift
she puts on her coat left by the door
she steps out into a flurry of snowfall
as she heads out into the cold

Tommy gets off around midnight
his head feels like a swollen ton of lead
he picks up some cigarettes down at the corner
then heads back to the apartment once again
