Inner Toughts

Johnny sat on the old block still/ chillin on the stoop/
Torn words flying the breeze it built/ emotion was doomed/
His thoughts were born of pain/ soon drowned his tears away/
Colour faded from the picture frame/ reminiscing his roots/

Beat broke spirit/ to hear it, it just be Judas/
Traitor on the spot/ Ludacris to do this/
Child emotion/ wild back hand crossed face/
Burned on the arm/ from a cigarette that laced/
Choke hold tuck rolled/ what’d he do to cause it/
Glad for a week day/ gone to school to pause it/
Deposit all sins/ on Sunday in a closet/
Returned all faith/ a molesting Father/

Johnny sits behind the cold steel still/ waiting for his chance/
To get outside in the world/ to appeal and make a new stance/
He be sorry for the day that he arranged/ to have that life taken away/
And wants to show the people of the world/ he’s changed, will you give him a chance/

Day’s that be hated/ battle up on the front line/
The craze never faded/ saddled up for the one time/
Like Mel Brooks blazing/ for a laugh thought all mine/
Crashing through the door/ like a Young Gun’s soul shined/
On a truth/ that made this youth snap back/
Crack that head/ looking back/
Never made sense when/ a time he thought, he had the picture put together/
Parole denied/ cause they thought he hadn’t gotten better/

Johnny stares at his own face in the mirror/ trying to find some truth/
The only thing that looks back is his fear/ not common to you/
His personality has never changed/ even though he was arraigned on/
Man one/ now he’ll face this day, his judgment of truth/
