She / Isis Is Calling

Daevid Allen

[Part I: Isis Is Calling]

[Intro: Daevid Allen & Liz Van Dort]
There was a time in my life when I was living up in the mountains. And these were mountains by the sea, overlooking the Pacific Ocean; you could see the sunset. No, it was the east, you could see the sunrise, ah! Well, anyway. Get con— California and Australia get confused sometimes. Anyway, there was the Pacific. And I would go down — I was, didn't have much money, I would go down and hang out on the edge of the sea when the weather was hot. Get too humid up in the mountains. And I had a particular pine tree I used to like to sit under and meditate, look out to sea, talk to the dolphins. And just along from this, there was a house that used to sit there looking out to sea with a beautiful balcony on it, and an even more beautiful woman that used to walk out on this balcony from time to time and stare dreamily out to sea. Well, of course, she had me fascinated, and I would — I would just — sometimes I just couldn't take my eyes off her, but I was in a kind of funny space, meditative space, so I've — didn't feel like I'd really walk — I didn't really wanna walk up and talk to her. I just preferred she stayed the way she was. So what else could I do but write her a love song?
Ah
Isis is calling, ah
Ah
Ah

[Part II: She]

[Verse 1: Daevid Allen & Liz Van Dort]
She lives beside New Brighton
Just along from Golden Beach
In a house with a look-out balcony
Sees far out of reach
Like a queen she sits behind a screen glass (Ah)
And waits for the wave that's yet to pass
Where man and woman might live at last
Without misunderstanding

[Pre-Chorus: Daevid Allen]
And she dreams
And it seems to me
When my eyes open that

[Chorus: Daevid Allen & Liz Van Dort]
She's everywhere you look (Ah)
She's everywhere you look (Ah)
Ah
She sees you
She sees me
I wonder what she sees
She's this mystic, mystic, mysterious mystery (Ah, ah)
La la la la la la la la la la la la
La la la

[Verse 2: Daevid Allen & Liz Van Dort]
*Laughs* He lives up in the mountains
On a dew-soaked valley's floor
In a house of rough-cut timber
With but a curtain for a door
And he sings and he plays in the Book of Days
And the air, it hangs so still
And the voices echo back to him (Ah)
Far around the hills

[Pre-Chorus: Daevid Allen]
And he sings
La la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la, la la la la la
And he plays
Do do do dn do do do dn do do do dn dee-yoo do dee da, la da die da die die

[Chorus: Daevid Allen & Liz Van Dort]
He sings in singers everywhere (Ah)
Songs that ring as music everywhere (Ah)
Ah
Sing, singer, sing
Ring, songs, ring
In music everywhere
He's this Mister Mystic Mysterious Mystery (Ah, ah)
La la la la la la la la la la la la
La la la

[Part III: Isis Is Calling]

[Outro: Liz Van Dort]
Ah, ah
Isis is calling, ah
Isis is calling, ah
