The In-between
I like to listen to the late-night sounds
Of lonely train whistles and the mockingbird call
The wheels on the cars as they turn in the street
I like to listen to the in-between
I like to listen to the curtains breathe
The hush of the kitchen as the back door creaks
The sigh of my bed as I slip in to sleep
I like to listen to the things in-between
Cause if I listen in real close maybe I'll hear
Hear you whisper into me
From somewhere in the in-between
