Dear America

Austin Bullock

With great power comes a great responsibility
Too many cowards taking no accountability
Ducking and weaving the same system they use and abuse
And I’m not getting political just expressing the
Views of black folks in America
The system’s broken America
We’ve been waiting for generations
Since working the plantations
Praying, practicing patience
While building this whole nation for free
Is it me or is the problem just historical
Too many of you acting like this hate ain’t diagnosable
Now we got a president that’s trying to start a culture war
Black bodies laying in the street
While Trump just let’s the vultures swarm
Now that’s the perfect storm
Igniting the lighter fluid while wounds are warm
Took a knee to show police brutality as our reality
You told vets that we hated them as if our people never wore the uniform
I’m asking you America
Is it hard to see our truth America
We’ve been waiting for generations
Since working the plantations
Praying, practicing patience
While building this whole nation
I’m asking you America
Is it hard to see our truth America
We’ve been waiting for generations
Since working the plantations
Praying, practicing patience
While building this whole nation for free
For free
