Boudicca’s Chariot
The morning alarm rings the start of the day
It's cold and it's cloudy outside
The last minute packing of bucket and spade
And sandwiches made for the ride
There's nervous excitement, adventures begun
The car fuels the mind of each child
The clouds tear apart to rays of the sun
Images start to run wild
Charging, chasing, speeding to victory
Gallant heroes, figures from history
Robert, Mary, Simon and Harriet
Riding hell-bent in Boudicca's chariot
The sight of the ocean, the smell of the sea
The first touch of sand on your toes
The kings of the castle, the queens of the beach
The sweet reign that only youth knows
The French Foreign Legion is holding the fort
They're keeping the Arabs at bay
While mermaids recline on the rocks and hold court
The sun throws it's light on the play
Charging, chasing, speeding to victory
Gallant heroes, figures from history
Robert, Mary, Simon and Harriet
Riding hell-bent in Boudicca's chariot
Seagulls compete with a wireless lament
Grandfathers take to the shade
Giggles escape from the striped changing tents
A fly swims in warm lemonade
Sandals flip flop like applause for the tunes
The ice-cream man plays, teas are drunk
Laughter explodes from the nearby sand-dunes
At the first glimpse of dad in his trunks
What a hunk!
Seagulls compete with a wireless lament
Grandfathers take to the shade
Giggles escape from the striped changing tents
A fly drowns in warm blub blub blub
Sandals flip flop like applause for the tunes
The ice-cream man plays, teas are drunk
Laughter explodes from the nearby sand-dunes
At the first glimpse of dad in his trunks
What a hunk!
