Anaesthetists Hymn

Everybody wonders what anesthetists do while the patient is sleeping
Everybody wonders what we do for three hours while that machine goes beeping
Everybody recognize we drink coffee and we gossip and that we are, generally, so buzzing
Everybody recognize we do crosswords and sodoku and we chat some full with the nurses

But do you really think that's all we do?
So let me tell you now: it isn't true!

Cause we sometimes check the screen
And 'everynow we bent the right stuff
And if we have to interview
We inject a benefit white stuff
And we often to alter the light
Other high the bad
Often do we the radio or change the CD
And even we check the patient occasionally
And if they move we turn up the vapor
And then we go back to read the paper

When the patient is sleeping
We just seat and list to the bleep
We just seat and list to the…

Once upon a time I did pride my job
And now I think it's time to depart...

Cause I just seat here every day and listen the bleeps of the heart.
